DISRUPTION
I had a show at the EBK Gallery in Hartford, and the gallery owner Eric suggested that it might look interesting to keep the work unframed with a more chaotic design. Around the same time, there was a juried exhibit for folded works made from the paper brand O-Gami, handmade by the Paper Circle in Ohio. I thought it would be fun to try Eric's idea on this paper, and Disruption emerged. These go back to the roots of a standard tiling of the plane, but with something distorted in the pleats, the twists, the negative space between, or even the paper as a whole. It sort of became the next level of emotional design past Breaking the Pattern.
